Mezzosoprano Meike Nandico works as a teacher and lecturer with the Berlin state
school system and also as a singer and private musical pedagogue. |
|
Meike was inspired at an early age to take up music by her grandparents. Her grandfather played the cello and her grandmother
loved singing traditional German folk songs. As a girl, Meike often stayed with her grandparents and has fond memories of singing
alongside her grandmother. |
At the age of 16 Meike became a member of Odwin Quast’s studio for young talents in Leipzig. There she took her first
professional voice classes. She went on singing while undergoing her teacher training at Humboldt University, Berlin. After
passing her audition at the conservatoire “Hanns Eisler”, Berlin, she studied opera and concert singing with Prof Renate
Faltin. She has experience of a wide range of scores from baroque up to modernism. |
Beside her musical and pedagogical diploma studies, Meike has attended master classes in Liedgesang with
Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and in Italian opera singing with Prof Elio Battaglia. She has always loved The Lied.
Here she has lately performed a great variety of pieces from the Romantic period up to Modernism. |
