Andrea Mastini

Northern Italian Andrea Mastini is Principal Horn Player of the orchestra of the Massimo Theatre of Palermo.
He began his musical education in his home region, Reggio Emilia, at Istituto Musicale Pareggiato ‘A. Peri’ with Luigi Girati. After his diploma he continued his studies at ‘Hochschule für Musik und Theater’ in Munich with Otto Schmitz und Siegfried Hammer. It was then that he started to collaborate with renowned chamber ensembles such as Kammerorchester Berlin or Pro Arte of Munich.
In Italy Andrea has performed, among others, with Orchestra Comunale di Bologna, the ‘Haydn’ Orchestra Bolzano e Trento, the Orchestra ‘Arturo Toscanini’ of Parma, the orchestra of Teatro di San Carlo, Naples and the ‘Solisti veneti’.
He has attended master classes with well-known horn soloists such as Radovan Vlatkovic, Dale Clevenger, Hermann Baumann und Barry Tuckwell, under whose conducting Andrea also performed as a soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra during the Val di Gardena Festival.
International obligations took him all over Europe as well as overseas as far as Puerto Rico. Besides his commitment to the orchestra in Palermo, Andrea has been involved in a great number of chamber musical projects in his adopted home Sicily, other parts of Italy and also Germany.
